Protective Dental Sealants

Sealants are a clear or white plastic coating that is placed on the biting surfaces of the teeth to prevent decay. To place sealants, the surface of the teeth has to be cleaned and dried. After that, a conditioning solution is applied and it’s proceeded by the sealant which needs to be hardened by a special light. It is recommended that children get sealants for the first time around the age of 5 and 7 or when they get their first set of molars. Once their permanent molars come in, between the age of 11 and 14, they should have sealant applied again. This will help them protect their teeth and maintain them strong and healthy.
