Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment is an exciting step toward improving the health and appearance of your smile. Because each of our offices have a licensed and certified orthodontist, you can receive your orthodontic and general dental care in one place. Our goal is to lower barriers so that more people can enjoy the beautiful smile they’ve always wanted.

To begin treatment, your mouth must be healthy. You will need a cavity clearance from the past six months by your dentist or have an exam and x-rays done at Risas (only $10 for new patients). Any broken, worn or missing teeth, cavities, and periodontal disease present must be treated before braces can be placed.
exam & xray at Risas Dental
When your mouth is healthy, your treatment will begin with a comprehensive orthodontic consultation to assess your teeth, bite, and jaw. Photographs will be taken of your face and profile and x-rays will be taken of your teeth to determine the position of your teeth and their roots. These will help the orthodontist design a treatment plan specifically for you and give you a time frame for the treatment.

Treatment will vary for everyone but can average from 18-36 months. The time will all depend on the complexity of your case, how well your teeth and mouth respond to the treatment, and how well you follow your orthodontist’s instructions
Metal Braces
Metal braces, also know as traditional braces, are the most common and inexpensive option for orthodontic treatment. They consist of metal arch wires, standard brackets, elastic tie ligatures and bands.

Braces Debond
You are finally done with your braces treatment and you are now ready to show off your new and improved smile. Now that you are done with your orthodontic treatment your dentist will debond your braces. Debonding is the removal of the cemented orthodontics brackets on your teeth.
Retainers
After your orthodontic treatment is over, you will have to use a retainer to maintain the new position of your teeth. Your orthodontist will advise you, regarding your individual case, which retainer is right for you.
