Preventive dental care appointments typically consist of an oral exam, X-rays, and a teeth cleaning, ideally done twice per year (every 6 months). We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to attend checkup appointments, whether you have insurance or not.
Although these appointments may seem like something you can put off, they’re vital for helping catch issues sooner rather than later. For example, they can play a role in preventing cavities from forming or allow the dentist to treat existing cavities before they turn into root canals.
Typically, insurance covers the cost of preventive care. However, if you don’t have insurance and want to stay on top of checkups, you can learn more about our dental membership here.
